HOW TO ACTUALLY MOD A Wii

Getting Started

WARNING

Before you follow this guide PLEASE keep in mind the risk of bricking your Wii, even though it is very not likely to happen, make sure to follow everything very closely just to safe.

Compatibility and Storage

For storage, I recommend using an SD Card formatted in FAT32 instead of a hard drive or USB Flash drive. This is because the Wii has VERY slow usb ports that are prone to breaking. Even though a Wii exploit usually only takes up about 128MB, I recommend at least 64GB so you can store your games and some hombrew stuff. Also this guide ONLY works on the ORIGINAL Wii, not the Wii Mini or vWii. I also recommend using the original launch Wiis instead of a Wii family edition.

Modding the console with Wilbrand

Wilbrand is a Wii exploit that uses the Wii message board to trigger a crash and run unsigned code.

Before this, make sure to update your Wii to the latest system version so no compatabilty issues occur.

MATERIALS NEEDED

  1. SD Card formatted to FAT32
  2. Wii
  3. A Computer
  4. First, open the Wii settings

Take note of the letter next to the system version, as we will need it later.

Then, navigate to "Internet", then go to "Console Information".

Then find your mac address and write it down somewhere.

Go to your computer and go to:

    wilbrand.donut.eu.org

Type in your Wii's mac address and system version stuff and make sure to make sure "Bundle the HackMii Installer for me!" is checked.

Click on either wire and download the zip file, then insert your SD Card into your computer.

Extract the downloaded .zip file and move the "private" and "boot.elf" files to the root of the SD Card.

Insert the SD Card back into your Wii

Then, go the the Wii Message Board and open the green letter with a bomb on it.

If the exploit worked, it should have loaded the HackMii installer.

    you should see this menu

Wait 30 seconds for the "Press 1 to continue" button to appear, then press 1.

Then, select "Install the Homebrew Channel"

    Once it's done, press "Continue"

    Select BootMii

    Select BootMii as IOS

    Select "Yes, continue"

    Once it's done, select "Continue"

Also, if it says "Install BootMii as boot2", select that also.

Once all thats done, select exit. You should now be at the homebrew channel and you have sucessfully modded your Wii!!!!!!!!!!!

You can do some more cool stuff in the other sections at the homepage.
